I was born and raised in Tuscany, in the Chianti region near Florence, Italy. I am the daughter of two German parents that had moved to Italy to start a whole new life. Later in my life I moved to the United States, in California. Here I earned an Associate Degree in Art from West Valley College in Saratoga and a BA in Studio Art from the University of California at Berkeley.
Life challenged me with the difficulty of being part of one culture, due to my origins, while growing up in a whole different cultural setting. This challenge brought in me a strong sense of loneliness since nobody around me was coming from a similar experience. This feeling of being “in between” two different worlds has been enriching but also difficult. I use art and painting as an outlet to express the complexity of such an experience. I am very attracted by memories and objects of my childhood and I use them as a starting point for my artistic journey on large canvases.
